You have already watched many perfume commercials / fashion films till now. As you watched them with a famous actor or a model, you would like them as they look erotic or attractive or charming or seductive. Some will have no relation with the scent, but Kenzo’s new fragrance commercial is just for you. Kenzo world is Kenzo’s first perfume commercial and it is kind of a parody of other perfume commercial.
Keno new perfume fashion film is directed by acclaimed director Spike Jonze. Being John Malkovich, Her and Where the Wild Things Are directed by him. In this feature dancer and actor Margaret Qualley, daughter of actor Andie MacDowell, going bonkers (dancing wildly, licking statues, firing lasers from her fingers) in an opera theatre.
From Brad Pitt muttering “My luck, my faith, my fortune, Chanel No.5” for Chanel no. 5 to Johnny Depp who wants to get out of here and trying to find a way for Dior. Nicole Kidman declaring “I’m a dancer. I love to dance” for Chanel and Gisel Bündchen who went to surfing for Chanel.
The film begins at a black tie gala with orchids on the table, chandeliers in the background, bejewelled and dinner jacketed-guests listening to a male voice from an unseen dinner speaker.
The camera slowly draws in to Qualley, sitting in a green dress stifled by the stale mood, trying to show her interest. She seem to be not wanted to be there and then we saw her at the corridor. As a tear drop came through her eyes, the first tick-tock beats of Mutant Brain by Sam Spiegel and Ape Drums start.
The exhilarating moves from Qualley started with music, till the end. There are some references from Jonze’s earlier film clip for Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice featuring Christopher Walken dancing through an empty building.
When the fashion film ended, i feel the freedom and want to break out from the life routine, talks, formality and everything. The commercial is insane so let’s be insane and have fun.
